Controlling home energy costs is often a balance between comfort and money savings. While there are many ways to reduce your energy bills during the hot summer months, some of them, like turning off the air conditioner, can cause enough discomfort that they aren’t likely to happen on the hottest days when doing so would save the most money.
While things like having a home energy audit done, replacing windows with more energy-efficient ones or performing HVAC maintenance are excellent ways to save money, they are sometimes expensive or impractical practical in the immediate situation when the temperature skyrockets.
