Our Greenhouse Gas Emissions
We plan to expand our awareness of our carbon footprint and refine our business approach to reduce Leaf Home’s GHG emissions.
We are seeking to better understand our carbon footprint and establish a baseline for ongoing improvement. While we are still developing our approach to this topic, in 2022 we plan to engage a third party and measure our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
Product Packaging and Distribution
We strive to collaborate with our partners to reduce the environmental impact of our product packaging and product distribution.
We assessed our product packaging and worked with suppliers to make improvements resulting in 50% less cardboard packaging used in shipping our products. We also evaluated our product distribution and began a network redesign to optimize distribution and reduce freight emissions. We were able to achieve an overall 20% reduction in freight miles traveled from 2020 to 2021. We will continue to increase distribution efficiency and review product packaging to identify opportunities for responsible stewardship of our natural resources.
Waste in Our Operations
We reduce our generation of solid waste through education, recycling and reuse initiatives, and material alternatives.
We recognize that responsible waste management is important to our employees and our community. We consider solid waste generation and disposal in our operations to be a priority for Leaf Home and in the future, will consider opportunities to further reduce our solid waste generation.
