LeafFilter is proud to announce that it has been honored with the 2017 Pillar Award by Medical Mutual. The award, which was created twenty years ago, honors businesses and entrepreneurs with a philanthropic mission. The Pillar Award serves as a reminder to all businesses that a charitable environment can foster a positive community.
LeafFilter’s CEO, Matt Kaulig, embodies the award’s characteristics through his many charitable contributions. While LeafFilter currently encompasses 43 offices across North America, the company certainly hasn’t lost sight of its roots. Headquartered in Hudson, OH, Kaulig, in association with LeafFilter, works to support the local community as much as he can, with contributions to Akron Children’s Hospital, Keep Akron Beautiful, and other local nonprofits. Kaulig has even founded his own nonprofit, Santa PICsU, which helps families that have experienced traumatic situations.
But Kaulig is also known for thinking big (how else would he have expanded LeafFilter from one small office in 2005 to the international giant it is today?!). In true fashion, he also supports national nonprofits, such as Make-A-Wish and the Marine Corps Scholarship. This giving spirit also extends to Kaulig’s employees, who support his philanthropic endeavors in their own individual ways.
“I’m thrilled to be in the position to give back to the community that raised me. To have my employees stand behind this mission as well is beyond words,” he says. “The LeafFilter family is incredibly altruistic, and I wholeheartedly encourage that spirit. I think that’s part of what makes us unique, and Medical Mutual seems to agree. I couldn’t be more honored to have been recognized with the Pillar Award.”
